Dear residents, We have been made aware that some local residents are unsure of how to correctly report crimes to the police. Please have a read of the below details for your information REPORTING A CRIME Is it an Emergency? Examples of this are - Does it feel like the situation could get violent very soon? Is the suspect on scene, Do they have a weapon? Is someone in immediate danger? If so, please call 999. We aim to answer emergency calls as quickly as possible, but levels of calls do that make that difficult. We are currently receiving record levels if calls and not all of them need an emergency response, please call 999 when required.
If you do pocket dial 999 please answer any incoming calls to say that you’re ok as it’s probably us ringing to make sure you’re safe. Non-Emergency For any non-emergency crimes please report via online or 101. Reports are dealt with by our control room in exactly the same way whether you report it online or by phone call. Before you give us the details of the crime, we will ask you a few questions to make sure we know the relevant details and information.
Reporting a crime online - https://www.met.police.uk/ro/report/ocr/af/how-to-report-a-crime/ Reporting ASB online https://www.met.police.uk/ro/report/asb/asb-v3/report-antisocial-behaviour/ Examples of this is low level Anti behaviour, such as riding bikes in corridors, youths hanging around in stairwells smoking or when the suspect has left the scene but you still need police assistance.
